Ramapo Mountain Ski Club's Work weekends are the days each month during the summer and fall when club members and their guests volunteer their time to maintain and update the lodge to ensure that we have great facilities for the ski season and the rest of the year to take advantage of Vermont recreation opportunities. Additionally this is good way to meet other members that you may not meet during the ski season.

What kind of projects are done at the work weekends?
Most of the projects on the work weekend are described as "light duty" projects. i.e. vacuuming, light painting, cleaning the kitchen, washing windows, cutting grass and clearing the brush around the lodge. The work weekend Person In Charge (PIC) is usually one of the club trustees who assign projects and manage the weekend.
In some years larger projects have been done when lodge operations and the trustees determine that it’s necessary to update some items in the lodge. In past years the bedroom windows and the sliding door in the living room were replaced as energy conservation projects. These types of projects utilize lodge members who are experienced in this type of work. If the experienced workers aren’t available in the club, a Vermont contractor can be hired.

During 2021, even though the Lodge was closed we still needed to keep the building ready for use and in safe condition. The old propane tank was removed and replaced with a buried tank and the culvert along the western edge of the Lodge property was filled. 2022 saw painting outside and plumbing repairs / upgrades inside.
Anything else to know about the work weekends?

Attendance at a work weekend during the summer will give you a Top Priority for booking a place at the Lodge the following ski season.

To book a place on a work weekend, call the Lodge Reservation Line then complete the form in the Members Area for any members or guests in your group.

Plan to arrive Friday evening or early Saturday morning and depart on Sunday afternoon.

The cost is $30.00 per member/guest for the whole weekend.

The Club will provide breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday evening.

The minimum age for attendance is 8 years old.

The club has equipment for most projects but you can bring your own work gloves or other protective equipment.

We try to promote carpooling, so if you need transportation, please leave a message on the Lodge Reservation Line when you make your reservation.
