Training and Instruction

Our Improvement Weekend is the ideal time to learn new skills, or sharpen existing ones.

​

We also offer testing to ensure that all Ramapo members have the requisite skills to keep from injuring themselves and others.

 

This year, we ran a bespoke group lesson with PSIA Instructors on “Stance and Alignment” at Windham Mountain, NY.

This was very popular and we're planning another for 2023-24.

Junior Program

Junior weekends normally take place at the lodge two or three times a year.  They're a great opportunity to get your kids together with people their own age and make lifelong friends.  The lodge buzzes with enthusiasm as families hangout in the great room and play games, talk, play guitars or entertain younger members with arts and crafts.

There's no extra cost at the lodge on Junior Weekends and our younger visitors policy is relaxed to include 3-4 year olds.

Also for the 2023-24 season, we'll be organizing an outing to Big Snow, at the American Dream mall in NJ.  Tickets will be subsidized for junior skiers and discounted for adults.  Date to be announced.

Local Skiing

We've set-up a place for club members to post where they’re going skiing and a place to meet others, including carpools to local ski areas (if you’re willing to share your drive with someone).

Club members will need to sign-up and become a website member, then you can join the Member Outings Discussion Group.

Our meetup.com group page also helps get the word out about club and other related events to members and potential members.  To use meetup, you need to create a FREE account on their site with an email address and password. 

Once you have an account you can search for and join groups such ours. meetup.com/RMSC-Ski

When one of your groups announces an event, you will receive an email with the relevant information and you can RSVP to attend. You can also see who else plans to attend the event. Once you RSVP, meetup provides an easy way to put the event on your electronic calendar of choice and receive email or mobile notification reminders.

Discounted Tickets

Discounted tickets for local ski areas are available to Ramapo members from the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council.

See the NJSSC Tickets Rep, Karen Lynch at a Thursday night meeting or contact her through details in the Roster to reserve tickets for the following ski areas:

• Killington - $118 (Blackout Days- Nov 23-26, 2023, Dec 23, 2023-Jan 1, 2024, Feb 17-25, 2024)

• Pico - $69 (no Blackout Days)

For each order of tickets we need to pay a shipping charge, so it's best if we order for multiple people at once.  If we place an order of more than 10 tickets we may be able to provide a further discount.  Checks payable to Ramapo Mountain Ski Club

Skiing Safely

One of our Members carries an Emergency ID Card, with their details and emergency contact details as well as space for any important medical conditions on the back.  There are many examples available as well as subscription services offering emergency numbers.  Make your own version or print and complete the example below.
